前回、ブライトンのお話をしましたが
イギリス話に火がついてしまいました（笑）

I was talking about Brighton last time
And then I want to talk about more about England!

今日は私の大好きな街をご紹介します。
皆さんがもしイギリスに行く機会があったら、是非訪れてほしい場所でもあります。
街の名前は「バース（Ｂａｔｈ）」
その名の通りお風呂が由来の街で、世界遺産に登録されています。

So this time, I would like to introduce the one of my favorite place in UK.
Also I want you to visit this city when you have got a chance.
The name of city is "Bath"
That name derived from bath(spa)
and the city of Bath has been resistered for the world heritage.

その昔、この地で温泉が湧き出たのがこの街の始まりでした。
その時代、この街は物乞いやギャンブラーたちでいっぱいになり
治安の悪化、劣悪な衛生状態が問題となっていました。
そんな中、当時の王室貴族が不妊症に悩みこの街を訪れたのを機に
バースは貴族の社交場へと変化を遂げたのです。

At the beginning,the hot spring gush out of underground long time ago.
But there were many beggars and gamblers around the city.
They made this city disrderly and insaitary.
Presently, Bath hasbeen changing to the place of sciety for aristocrat
Because the woman of household was in trouble for sterile,
and then she try to in a hot spring.

上の写真は、バースの象徴とも言えるＡｖｏｎ（川）
その上に架かるのはパルトニー橋、
この川をボートで周遊することが出来るんです。
約４５分程ですが本当に気持ちがいいですよ～

The above picture is Avon(river) of symbol.
and the Pulteney Bridge on the avon.
I have riden a boat to excrsion.
It was really nice and feel so relax.

そして、バースを訪れたら必ず皆さんが行く場所・・・
それが「ローマン・バス」

I think everybody go to that place in Bath...
which named "Roman Bath (Spa)"

こちら、現在は実際にお風呂につかることは出来ません。
しかし今もなお温泉が沸き出ています。
当時の社交場として賑わったこのスパ（温泉）を博物館として
たくさんの貴重な物を展示しています。

You can not into the bath, however the hotspring is still coming.
Now that is using as a museum showing you so many valuable things.

左上の写真は、昔ポンプルームとして使われており、
現在ではレストランになっている場所です。
こちらでは温泉水を飲むことができます。
さて、お味のほうは・・・

On the left above picture, it has used a pump room long time ago,
and now it is a resutaurant.
Also you can try to drink a hot spring.
I am not sure about taste...

写真を見ていて皆さんお気づきかとは思いますが、
バースの建物は全てあめ色（ベージュっぽい茶色）です。
バースではバース石が有名で、始めは薄い茶色ですが
年月が経つにつれて、褐色がかった色に変わります。
下の写真をご覧ください。
バースの美しい街並みです。

Maybe someone realized that all buildings are color of brown.
The Bath stone is very fomous and it used for everything.
Also that color has been changing from beige to brown
when the time marches on.
Look at the beautiful picture of Bath.

上の写真は、ロイヤル・クレッセントと呼ばれる、
半円の形をしたフラット（アパートメント）です。
イギリスでは、サークル（円）の形をした道路や建物がよく見られます。

That above picture is a flat named "Royal Crescent"
There are many road or building with circle form.

少し裏路地に入ると小さな店が所狭しと並んでいます。
バースの街の特徴は、街灯や花壇にいつでも素敵に飾られている花。
絵になりますよね♪

If you go to an alleyway(lane), there are many small nice shops.
I was always looking at beautiful flowers hanging a street lamp or border.
That is really picturesque.

いかがですか、バースの街並み。
素敵な所だと思いませんか？
私は、イギリスに行くたびにバースを訪れますが、
毎回心やすらぐ時間があるんです。
紅茶を飲みながらベンチに座っていると、
いつしかストリートミュージシャンが集まり、
プロさながらの演奏を始めるのです。

What do you think about Bath?
Don't you think really beautirul city?
I always go to there when I visit to England,
and my mind is at peace...
Because when I drink a cup of tea and just sit down,
The many street musicians are coming and start to performance.
It is sounds professional.
